CHAIRMAN'S CHAT

It doesn't seem like five minutes ago that I was writing about the diving season just starting and now here are nearly at the other end. But don't despair there are still a couple of months to go, if the weather is kind. So if you fancy a trip why not give it a go.

It's nearly AGM time again as well but I won't say much about that here, as you will see it elsewhere in this issue. Suffice to say, if you fancy a go on committee, don't be shy, now's your chance.

The summer has been a busy one for us, lots of diving, lots of social events, all of which have been well subscribed. We have regularly had 20+ divers at Stoney on Club Nights and even more there for Annette's Barbecues!

The new Club Polo Shirt has gone down better than expectations with demand outstripping supply on the first order and a second order about to be placed. See elsewhere in this issue for details or have a look on the website for a full colour view. Let me know if there is anything else you like e.g. Fleeces, T-Shirts, Caps, etc. in fact I am told almost anything except gloves and socks! Now that we have covered the cost of the logo any quantity can be supplied but the first price break in most cases is 15. If there is interest we'll have a go.

COMMITTEE NEWS

As many of you will be aware Matt and Vic have now departed for their world tour and we wished them Bon Voyage at Wetherspoons and the Imperial Chinese last week. Obviously Matt has had to give up his position of Training Officer, a job he took in his stride.

Claire Asplin has kindly 'volunteered' to step in as TO until the AGM. She is a BSAC Advanced Instructor and Advanced Diver so is amply qualified for this role. Claire has told us that she will be unable to be quite as active on the diving front as Matt was but I am sure with the number of instructors and assistants we now have in the Club this should not represent to much of a problem.

INSTRUCTORS

A number of members have asked us to publish a list of Instructors who are available and able to supervise training. We are in the process of doing this but need to know from those of you who are Instructors or Assistants, a) if you are willing and b) when you are available or prefer. If I have caught you already, I apologise, if I haven't please let me know.

Bob
