WHAT'S BUBBLING The Newsletter of RUGBY SUB-AQUA CLUB APRIL 1999 |

The Finance Sub-Committee, set up following last year’s AGM, has now reported back. The group looked a current income and expenditure, and constructed a 10 year spending plan for major capital purchases (eg pool/open water equipment and RIB items).
Their conclusions were that the Club’s income is presently meeting its day to day expenditure, and that we need to produce a surplus of approximately £2,200 per annum to be able to finance future major spending. The group assumed that there would be no grants forthcoming. If, as we all hope, we do get grant aid in the future, this will be a bonus. Following the Sub-committee’s work, the full Committee decided on this year’s fees and charges, detailed below.
Once again the Committee has decided not to increase the Branch element of the membership fees. This will remain at £55 and is the 4th year running that the part of your subs that goes towards running the Branch have not increased.
However, the BS-AC changes announced last autumn, will be passed on. This means a £2 decrease for Instructors and Advanced Divers and above, and a £3 increase for everyone else.
Both RIB and equipment hire charges are changing for 1999. The Committee wish to encourage even more use of the RIB, and it was felt that with fuel costs in particular rising quickly, something needed to be done to keep costs down. Hence, the RIB hire fee per person is coming down to £6.
Equipment hire fees are being increased for the first time in many years but remain very good value when compared to dive centre or shop prices. The new fee is £2.50 per item per day. In view of the amount of lead that goes missing each year, this will now include weightbelts.
