CAMERAS & KEN MARRIOTT LEISURE CENTRE

At a recent meeting of the Ken Marriott Leisure Centre User Forum, the subject of cameras was brought up.

Many Sports/Leisure Centres in the area are now enforcing a total ban on the use of cameras of any sort on their premises, from the point of view of child protection. This has been largely prompted by the latest generation of mobile phones, which can now take photos, many without the subject being aware.

KMLC's view is that they don't want to have to enforce a total ban on cameras, but they are monitoring the situation and if people start to complain they may be forced to act accordingly. There has for sometime been a policy of registering use of cameras with reception, although it has not been widely invoked, largely through ignorance of it's existence.

As a Club who privately hire the facilities at times when there are not too many youngsters about, this should not affect us greatly. However, if you are bringing a camera into the centre, let Reception know and let Pete Robinson, Claire or me know.

KMLC certainly recognise that we use underwater cameras and need to use or try them out in the pool. They also do not want to stop us. Use your common sense on this one.
