JOTTINGS(Or Ed's bit)Well it's time to put the kit away for another winter except, of course, for you hardy Stoney Cove lovers and those off to sunnier and warmer climes. What a pity the AGM had to be re-run due to lack of numbers on the night. Fortuitous then that we were able to run it a couple of weeks later without any disruption to the training program as the KLMC was closed for a week. The Club does need your support as members and it is very pleasing to see so many of you turning up on a Monday evening now. If one clear point came out of the AGM it's that we didn't do enough diving in 2003 (Ed included!). One way to promote and encourage more diving is to put your experiences (the diving ones that is!) in print. So come on, let's have some more Club related articles for WB. Hope you all had a Happy Christmas and have a prosperous and peaceful New Year May your bubbles ever upwards go CHAIMAN'S CHATFollowing the fiasco of the planned AGM on 27th October where only 18 members of a membership of 84 attended. The club's constitution states that a quorum of 1/3 the membership must be present. This meant that the meeting had to be cancelled and re-arranged for 10th November, where, thankfully, this time sufficient members were present to continue. I think next year we might set a date outside of school half term. Special thanks to Jerry for arranging the "more than adequate" venue. Considering the four changes on the new committee, we seem to have settled in quite well. Having only been in the job five minutes, we've not much to report, however we'll update everyone as time goes on. Thanks to Pete, who has decided to continue training the present Trainees for Ocean Diver. Claire is in the process of planning the new training calendar for 2004. Mark is hoping to arrange Skill Development Courses in the New Year. We'll keep you posted on all the courses and dates. Gerald has kindly offered to deliver the RIB the 200 plus miles (there and back) to Levington to undergo its annual service. Let's see that its used more next year, than this. Last years committee were accused of not organising enough trips,... us being a Dive Club and all that. With the greatest respect to you guys, its not the committee's job. All we do is "manage" the club and see that everything is applied correctly within BSAC rules. The diving is up to YOU. We need YOU to plan the trips that YOU want to do - After all,.. its YOUR club. Don't leave it to the "usual suspects" - Have a go yourself! Or perhaps two or three of you together? Maybe there's somewhere different you would like to try? Or maybe start with one of the old haunts? - The committee will support and give you all the help and encouragement you need. So come on you guys,.... Give it a whirl!! Or would you rather do the housework and watch the telly all weekend? Mark will arrange Club days at Stoney Cove and Pete S. is planning a trip to the Egyptian Red Sea in September. So far, there is nothing else planned. Have a Very Happy One,... New Years Cheers... DJ. Next Home What's Bubbling December 2003 front page |
