Swimming Pool Boom
The swimming pool boom is now in place, although they are still having some teething troubles with it, and it can only be moved from one end of the pool to the other after removing the centre steps.
The boom was bought with a grant and means the pool to be cut to 25m long, a recognised competitive distance, allowing more swimming competitions to be held.
We have been aware for some time that the boom was coming and have discussed it with the Centre management.
Our view is that we would like the boom to continue to be at the shallow end during our session. This not only means that we keep the full 3m area at the deep end, but also provides a ready made Octopush ‘pitch’, now being taken advantage of on a regular basis. This arrangement fits in with the Swimming Club who also prefer the boom at that end.

Beer Supply Problems
The Centre has recently changed their supplier to Bass and once again there were a few early teething problems with supplies. These should now be permanently resolved.
Changing Area Problems
We have pointed out the difficulties being caused by the ladies changing area being closed off during our session, and to the cleaning regime being undertaken while we are in the pool. The latter has resulted in some cleaning materials finding their way into the pool (some have mistaken this for high chlorine levels) and means that we have to change back in wet cubicles.
We are still waiting to hear back from the management on this one.

Cage
No, not to keep recalcitrant members in, but for our kit! Anyway, it’s now in place, making things much more secure and keeping the Sports Centre happy.
Lead
The Club still has a considerable amount of lead (well over 100 lb!) for sale at prices considerably cheaper than you’ll find in dive shops. If you need any, Andy or Darren are the people to talk to.
Air
Don’t forget that all Club members can get FREE AIR at Mike’s Waterfront Warehouse in Hillmorton Road. Just say that you’re a Club member.
INTRODUCTION COURSE
The next Intro Course will be on Mondays 26th January and 2nd February, with the Novice Diver Course following immediately after. As usual, if you know of anyone who would like to come along please let
John Cooper know.
