Instructor Update

Well done to Dave Murphy and Bob Kempton, both having recently qualified as Open Water Instructor. 4-5 more members are well on their way to achieving their OWI qualification. Since the paper edition, Daren Motershead and Mike Singleton have also qualified as OWIs

Boat handling

Early in the year Gerald Garner managed to achieve a sum of money from AWARDS FOR ALL for the club with the purpose of funding as many as we could to go on the course. To date 13 have spent the weekend at Felixstowe on a most enjoyable and informative course. With this in mind we need to document and take photos of all events to help with other funding bids and also who knows we may wish to try for a BSAC trophy one day!!!

Nitrox Divers

6 Club members recently passed a Technical Diving International (TDI) course on the use of enriched air nitrox (EAN) as a breathing gas for diving. The course was completed whilst on a liveaboard in the Red Sea.

OWI LOGSHEETS

Due to the recent change in Open Water Instructor Chief Examiner, the OWI logsheets currently in circulation will have the incorrect return address on.

All club instructors or instructor cross overs who are in possession of one of these logsheets should send their completed sheets back to HQ addressed for the attention of the Central Bookings Department. (Please ensure you take a photocopy of all documentation before sending it in the post).

To make it even easier for you, BSAC now accept the logsheets back by fax to 0151 350 6253 or by email to bookings@bsac.com

Dive Show – NEC Birmingham 30th/31th October 2004

The annual Dive Show is fast approaching and this year’s event will see the launch of the BSAC's Preferred Travel Partner Scheme. In response to the members' survey BSAC have developed a fabulous scheme with six carefully selected partners to offer our members substantial discounts on diving holidays all over the world.

Members who register to be a part of the Travel Club at the show will have the opportunity of winning a dream holiday for two donated by Touchdown, one of the partners. Registrants will have access to all the information needed to plan a holiday; from destination reports, news bulletins, hints and tips right through to itinerary planning.

To find out more about the scheme and for a chance to win a fantastic holiday go and see BSAC on Stand 812. They're looking forward to seeing you there!

FISHONLINE

The Marine Conservation Society has launched a new web resource: www.fishonline.org. For all those concerned about declining fish stocks and the welfare of our seas the Marine Conservation Society FISHONLINE website can help you identify which fish are from well managed sources and/or caught using methods that minimise damage to marine wildlife and habitats.
