The Editor’s bit
Hello again and apologies for the somewhat longer gap than usual between issues.
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been working away from home four or five days a week since late July and haven’t had the time or facilities to get an issue together.
In this time of mists and mellow fruitfulness ...
... we often think of things winding down a bit. On the trip side this is true, although for once six of us did get away in October this year and managed to get a full weekend’s diving in, even if the weather was ‘rather blowy’.
Anyone who was bumped into John Fletcher recently will know that ‘winding down’ is the one thing farthest from his mind.
John took over the Training Officer role at the end of the summer, although not officially elected to the post until last month’s AGM. He has been very busy planning training schedules, courses and lectures including Sports Diver and Dive Leader lecture days in January. I cannot stress just how important training is and how much we can all help by offering our services as lecturers and pool trainers and helping on open-water days.
Full details of the training schedule are on page 4. If you can help in any way or would just like to know what is involved in instructing, talk to John.

Trips
Trip planning is now well underway for 1998, and interest in one location is even being canvassed for 1999! Details of those planned so far are on page 4. If you want to help organise a trip and/or have a particular location you think we should pay a visit to, talk to John Cooper.
A couple of early season trips have been specifically set aside as ‘Novice’ trips. Get you names down on the lists asap!
Summer Barbecue
It seems like ages ago now, but the summer ‘do’ and Anne & John Cooper’s was a resounding success, helped by being blessed with a gloriously warm August evening.
A big thank you to everyone who helped to sell tickets, arrange and cook the food, and of course to John and Anne for agreeing to host it (especially as they had only just returned from holiday).
Definitely an event to ‘revisit’ next year.

Rugby Advertiser
Great to see some good publicity for the Club in the shape of a centre page spread in October 16th’s edition of the Advertiser. A big thank you to John Cooper for liaising with the paper and Malin for obviously ensuring they enjoyed their try dive in the pool.
CONGRATULATIONS ...
... to John and Anne Cooper, who became proud parents at the end of October. Young Hannah weighed in at 4lb 14oz, and after a short stay in hospital is now at home with Mum and Dad.

COMMITTEE MEETING
The next Committee meeting is on Friday 5th December. If you have anything you would like raising, talk to one of us!
WHAT’S BUBBLING ON PAPER?
What’s Bubbling, that’s what! Shortly after you get this we hope to have WB available on the paper under a postage stamp. A big thank you to Dave for typing each copy by hand.
And Finally ...
If I don’t see you again before our December break from the Sports Centre (highly likely in most cases), have a brilliant Christmas, and I’ll see you in ‘98.
Dive safely and may your bubbles ever upwards go!
